Women’s Collective (WC) is a Not for Profit Organization of more than 1,00,000 Women members spread across 19 districts in Tamil Nadu, which is working for all round empowerment of the marginalized particularly women, children and elders, especially in rural areas.

The Collective is facilitated by Ms. Sheelu through participatory process and was started way back in 1994. It was the time when leadership of women among NGOs was a rare affair and mostly women were field workers executing orders at village level. Now WC work covers more than 1000 villages falling under 23 Parliament constituencies, 43 assembly constituency, 581 Village Panchayats, 72 taluks, 88 unions, 4 City Corporations and 19 districts.

Women’s Collective believes in the rights of the excluded in the society, especially that of women and children to have a peaceful and secure environment.

Our vision is for a just society in which the rights and the needs of the excluded are addressed without any discrimination on the basis of gender, caste, religion, culture, class, politics, education and health with assured food security, protected & Peaceful environment and disaster preparedness which ensures sustainable development.
